Sleep tracker

A sleep tracker app that shows what woke you

Log your night in the morning, or let your watch do it. Her Good Days keeps it next to night sweats, hot flashes, mood and your cycle, so a run of short nights has a likely reason beside it.

The short answer

The sleep tracker in Her Good Days is a morning diary: bedtime, wake time, how often you woke and how rested you feel.

If an Apple Watch or another wearable already saves your sleep to Apple Health or Health Connect, the app reads it from there. Insights then compares your nights with the symptoms you logged, such as sleep on nights with and without night sweats. It records patterns and does not diagnose sleep disorders.

Your week, in the app

Which nights go short?

The weekly check-in and Insights split your nights by what else you logged. In this example the nights with night sweats ran over an hour shorter. Yours will show your own numbers.

The Sleep and night sweats card in Insights: 6 h 08 m on the 7 nights with night sweats, 7 h 26 m on the 7 nights without, 14 nights as bars, and 1 h 18 m more sleep on nights without

How to start

What can you log about a night?

  • Bedtime and wake time. The app works out the hours.
  • Wake-ups. How many times, and a note if you know why (a hot flash, the baby, a full bladder).
  • How rested you feel, on a 5-point scale.
  • Night sweats, from the same Log menu, which moves them up between 11:30 PM and 5 AM.

A sleep diary in the morning

Set your bedtime and wake time, and the app works out how long you slept. Add wake-ups with their times if you know them, and what woke you: a hot flash, night sweats, the baby, the bathroom, pain, noise or a busy mind.

Last night's sleep: 7 h 45 m asleep, bedtime 10:45 PM, woke up 6:30 AM, 2 wake-ups at 3:00 AM, and What woke you? with A hot flash, Night sweats, The baby, The bathroom, Pain, Noise and A busy mind

Your last 14 nights

The Sleep page shows last night first, then the wake-ups between 2 and 4 AM this week and your sleep after nights with night sweats, with every night listed below.

Does it work with Apple Watch, Fitbit or Oura?

Through your phone's health app. Her Good Days reads your sleep from Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android, once you allow it. Any watch or ring whose own app saves sleep there will show up. Time in bed awake is left out, so the number matches the hours you were actually asleep. More on the Apple Health and Health Connect page.

Help winding down

Set a wind-down reminder for the time you pick, then use a guided breathing exercise or one of the sleep stories. A second reminder in the morning asks how the night went. Both are off until you switch them on, and the lock-screen text never mentions sleep or symptoms.

Who it helps, by stage

Perimenopause and menopauseNight sweats and 3 AM wake-ups, logged in a tap and compared with your sleep

PregnancySleep stays in your Log menu all the way through, with heartburn or leg cramps as symptoms

Questions

Do I need a watch or a ring?

No. Most people type their night in the morning, which takes about as long as a text. A watch or ring that saves sleep to Apple Health or Health Connect fills it in for you.

Can it tell me if I have insomnia or sleep apnea?

No. It records your nights and shows patterns. A doctor can diagnose a sleep problem, and the doctor report gives them your nights on paper.

Does broken sleep count?

Yes. Log how many times you woke, and Insights keeps both the total and the wake-ups. After a birth, several short stretches in one night are normal to log.

Is the sleep tracker free?

Yes, with full history, charts and the audio. There is no subscription.
