Food diary

What you ate, without the guilt

Search a food, pick the amount, done. The diary keeps calories, protein, carbs, fat and fiber for each meal, and water in glasses, so you can see your day and your week.

The short answer

Her Good Days has a free food diary. Search a food or scan its barcode, pick how much you had, and it adds the calories, protein, carbs, fat and fiber to the meal and the day.

Today shows the day against your targets, the diary shows each meal and your water, and the week's average sits above the days before. There are recipes, a meal plan and a shopping list too, and no crash diets.

How do I log a meal?

Step 1

Tap Log a meal

On Today, or + Log, then Meal. Pick breakfast, lunch, dinner or snacks.

Step 2

Find the food

Search by name, tap Scan for a barcode, or add your own food.

Step 3

Say how much

Change the servings and the numbers follow. Tap Add and it is in the meal.

Calories, protein and fiber, at a glance

Each meal you log adds to one card on Today: calories against your day's target, then protein and fiber as two bars. In teen mode the card leaves the calorie target out.

The nutrition card: 2 meals logged, 1,044 of 1,700 cal, protein 50 of 90 g and fiber 21 of 25 g as bars, with Log a meal

A day of meals

Breakfast to dinner, with water on the same screen

The diary shows the day's total against your target, protein and fiber as bars, and carbs and fat under them. Water sits just below, counted in fl oz with a plus and minus.

Each meal lists its foods with amounts, calories and protein. Saved meals go back in with one tap.

The food diary for today: 1,044 of 1,800 cal from 7 foods in 2 meals, protein 50 of 90 g, fiber 21 of 25 g, water 40 of 64 fl oz, and breakfast at 328 cal with rolled oats and Greek yogurt
One day: totals, water, then each meal.
Your week

The week's average, then each day before

Scroll down for a day on average over the days you logged: calories, protein, carbs, fat and fiber. Under it, each earlier day shows its meals, protein, fiber and calories.

This week: a day on average over 6 days logged, 1,371 cal, 73 g protein, 168 g carbs, 46 g fat, 25 g fiber, then yesterday and earlier days with their meals, protein, fiber and calories
This week on average, and the days before.
Packets and plates

Scan a barcode, or add a photo of your meal

Tap Scan and hold the barcode in the frame: the food comes up with its values, ready for the amount. Tap Photo to keep a picture of the plate with the meal. Photos stay on your phone, and the numbers come from the foods you add. More on the food scanner.

Rolled oats after a barcode scan: store brand, values for 1/2 cup dry (40 g), 1 serving, 150 cal, 5 g protein, 27 g carbs, 3 g fat, 4 g fiber, and Add to Breakfast

Recipes, a meal plan and a shopping list

Recipes show protein and fiber per serving. Put them on a week's plan, then turn the plan into a shopping list. The meal planner page shows each step.

Recipes filtered to all: a Greek yogurt bowl with pear and walnuts, breakfast, 5 min, 335 cal, protein 21 g, fiber 9 g, and overnight oats with chia and blueberries
Recipes you can filter by protein, fiber and meal.

Weight, gently

If weight is your goal, the weight tracker shows a weekly average next to your weigh-ins, so one salty dinner does not look like a setback. The app never sells a target weight or a crash plan.

The food diary sits next to sleep, symptoms and movement, which makes it easier to see what else was going on that week.

Which stages get it?

Everyone. For ages 13 to 17 the diary has no weight-loss goals and no calorie target. Meals and water can still be logged. In a pregnancy the food trackers can be hidden with the others.

Questions

Do I have to count calories?

No. You can log meals and look at protein, fiber or water alone. Calories are shown, and you can ignore them.

Is there a barcode scanner?

Yes. Scan a packet to add it, and add a photo of your meal if you like. Both are free.

Do my meals sync to my other phone?

Yes, once you sign in: meals and the foods in them back up with your account. Meal photos never do. They stay on the phone you took them on.

Is the food diary different for teens?

Yes. For ages 13 to 17 there are no weight-loss or calorie goals. Meals and water can still be logged.
